Is your club car charger not working properly?
Basic Checks First
-
Power Source
-
Make sure the outlet has power (try plugging something else in).
-
Check the breaker/fuse box.
-
-
Connections
-
Inspect the charger plug, outlet, and cart charging port for any visible damage or corrosion.
-
Make sure the plug is fully seated in the cart.
-
⚠️ Charger Issues
-
Indicator Lights
-
Does the charger have any lights or display codes? What do they show (flashing, solid, color)?
-
Older chargers might click once when plugged in — if it doesn't, the issue could be internal.
-
-
Onboard Computer (OBC)
-
If your Club Car has an OBC (Onboard Computer) and it's malfunctioning, it may not allow the charger to activate.
-
Signs of a bad OBC: charger won’t turn on, or it shuts off too soon.
-
🔋 Battery Condition
-
Battery Voltage
-
If the battery pack voltage is too low, the charger might not detect it.
-
Use a multimeter to check pack voltage — it should be within about 36V (for 36V carts) or 48V (for 48V carts). If it’s much lower, you might need to pre-charge the batteries individually to get them up enough for the charger to kick in.
-
🛠️ Next Steps
-
Do you know the model of your Club Car and charger type (e.g., PowerDrive, ERIC, Delta-Q)?
-
Are there any sounds/lights when you plug in?
-
Do you have a multimeter handy?
